Requirements

COACH BACKGROUND SCREENING:
This is City of Knoxville regulation. All Head Coaches or Assistant Coaches must successfully complete national background screening every two years. A person is not permitted to coach until they successfully complete the national background screening process and receive a coach identification badge. It is a privilege, not a right to be a coach and mentor to youth. The safety of the children involved is our number one concern. We have partnered with City of Knoxville Parks & Recreation and National Center for Safety Initiatives.
To complete the $0 cost background check, visit:  http://backgroundcheck.knoxvilleathletics.com

COACH ID BADGE (complete for Winter & Spring Sports only):
Once your background check has been submitted, please email a headshot with your first and last name, organization, team name, and age division to:  parkintern@knoxvilletn.gov
Coaches must wear their ID badge at all teams' practices and games. No coach will be allowed to coach without their ID badge.
Coaching badges will be delivered to coaches at their game sites once KYS receives them from the City of Knoxville Parks & Recreation Department.

COACH EDUCATION REQUIRED TO BE SIGNED BY STATE LAW:
Coaches must sign the Concussion & Head Injury Education Form & Sudden Cardiac Arrest Education Form each year per State law.  Please sign and email the forms to the program director.
